Candidates must meet all of the parameters above to waive the GMAT/GRE/EA test requirement for the Langone Part-time MBA program.
Applicants who are applying prior to the completion of their undergraduate degree must have earned the required GPA at the time of application to be eligible to waive the GMAT/GRE/EA. Applicants must maintain the required minimum GPA through the completion of their undergraduate degree.
If you believe your undergraduate major would qualify as a business major, but is not listed above, you may submit the Part-Time Test Waiver Request form along with a copy of your unofficial undergraduate transcripts from all undergraduate institutions you attended for evaluation. Requests must be made no later than 15 days prior to the application deadline.
Requests to consider majors outside of business will not be reviewed.
Exceptions to the GPA requirement will not be granted.
NYU Undergraduate Test Waiver
- Have an undergraduate degree conferred by New York University
- Have earned a final cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher at the time of degree conferral (GPAs below 3.20 may not be rounded up)
- This waiver option is also referred to as the NYU + MBA Program
NYU Stern "Spring Forward" Program for Spring 2025
Under the “Spring Forward” program all NYU administrators and staff who are eligible for the NYU graduate tuition remission program will also have the opportunity to request to waive the standardized test requirement to apply to the NYU Stern Part-time MBA program for Spring 2025. The program is for Spring 2025 only - as this is a limited time program, test waivers will not be applicable for other terms or other programs.
To request the waiver please complete the “Spring Forward” request for test waiver form. Approval of a test waiver will be contingent on evidence of ability to participate in a rigorous academic program (see form for further details).
Applicants must be eligible for the graduate tuition remission plan at the time of submission of the waiver request. The MBA Admissions Committee will review these requests and render a decision in typically no more than five business days.
As is the case with all of our test waiver programs, being granted a test waiver does not guarantee admission to the program.
All NYU administrators and staff who request a test waiver as part of the “Spring Forward” program will receive an application fee waiver (regardless of the test waiver decision). Please note that application fee waivers are only granted prior to applying, application fees cannot be refunded once paid.

GMAT, GRE, or Executive Assessment (EA)
Before submitting an application you must take either the:
- GMAT (administered by Pearson VUE; reporting code 5TF-HW-37)
- GRE (administered by Educational Testing Services (ETS); reporting code 5152)
- Executive Assessment (administered by Pearson VUE; reporting code 5TF-HW-37).
Stern has no preference for the GMAT, GRE, or Executive Assessment. We consider admission based on your highest score in the case of a re-take. There is no minimum test score to apply. For those that submit more than one test type, we will consider the standardized test score (submitted with this application or previously sent to Stern) for admission which aids your candidacy. For those who are eligible and submit their application with a standardized test waiver and who have or submit a standardized test score, we will consider the standardized test score if it aids your candidacy.
Scores must be valid at the time that you submit your application (within five years of the test date). You must include your test score on the application and ensure that your official score reports are sent to NYU Stern. An official test score is required for a final decision, but the review of your application may begin with an unofficial test score.
Applicants who would like to submit their application with a GMAT test score that is between five and ten years old may request an exception to submit that score. Exception requests should be sent to admchair@stern.nyu.edu, and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. To satisfy the standardized test requirement for the MBA application, the Admissions Committee must be able to verify any GMAT score with GMAC (the test agency). Please note that the score verification process may cause delays in the admission review and/or timing of decisions. GRE test scores are not able to be verified after the five year mark.
If you plan to retake a test after applying, you must email your retake date to admchair@stern.nyu.edu. However, a decision may be issued prior to receiving additional test scores.
TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test
- Your native language is English.
- Your undergraduate or graduate degree was taught in English.
- You provide test results from either TOEFL (reporting code 2582), the IELTS (RO name New York University - MBA and Graduate Admissions), or the Duolingo English Test (reporting code: NYU Stern, MBA & Graduate Admissions).
